Never-before-seen footage of John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
In the closing stages of editing Arena: Imagine IMAGINE, a remarkablediscovery was made in the archives of ORF and BBC.A film can marked «miscellaneous», which had been languishingunopened for over thirty years, was found holding rushes of JohnLennon, Yoko Ono and Mick Jagger. The intimate footage, found inVienna this year, captures John and Yoko in and around theirTittenhurst Park house in 1969. As they discuss art and play chess witha white board and pieces against a white background the footageperfectly encapsulates the world of John, Yoko and the Imagine song. One of the world's other rock legends, Mick Jagger, is also caught oncamera socialising and having fun with John and Yoko during filmingfor the notorious, yet never screened, Rock and Roll Circus documentaryabout a Rolling Stones tour in the late '60s.
"A fascinating voyage into the universe of imagination, creativity and theinspiration for verses of universal peace. (...) An excellent documentary, intelligent and well constructed, that holds your interest from beginningto end. An introspection into the heart of the veritable hymn for a newmillennium." (Infoculture, Canada 2004)
"A music doc - but one that certainly busted out of doc conventions andstructure (...) After watching the film, you won't be able to listen to thesong without thinking about it more carefully." (Wendy Mitchell, Indiewire, USA 2004)
