Small Fish

Kleine Fische

In times of globalisation and ecological crises a small fish store holds a surprisingly big potential of self-fulfillment for the 25 year old Martin. Now, after his father passed away, he will be able to do everything different and better - even if the small shop has to compete with the discount store over the road and his brother Kurt, out of the blue, returns from oblivion and aggrandizes himself - first in the store and then with Karin, a student. It was Martin though who wanted to impress Karin by his transformation into a modern, anti-globalisation entrepreneur. Martin and Kurt above all have the non-changeable fact in common, that they are brothers. But it is Kurt's presence that provokes conflicts. Though Martin and Kurt would actually be not that different, they both live in illusory worlds and shut themselves off to the unpleasant reality. With décor and big talks Martin tries to save the family business and the whole area, Kurt acts the successful careerist, his life goal, though in reality he is a million miles away from that.
