The Wine Tycoon
Thomas Sticklers, who lives in Frankfurt with his wife Johanna and his daughter Anna, left his home town of Rust in the province of Burgenland a long time ago. He has made a career abroad. Fed up with having to act against his principles, he quits his job all of a sudden one day. Coming home early, he finds his wife in bed with a colleague. Thomas has had it. He drives home to his native Lake Neusiedl to think about his life and future. Arriving at his parents' inn, their joy about their sons return home is but short: His father dies from a heart attack. The family is faced with an unexpected situation when the father's will is read: Thomas inherits his father's vineyards. At first he refuses to think for a moment of becoming a wine farmer himself. But when Gottfried Schnell, the doyen of all winegrowers, tells him about the beauty of this country, its worth, and the worthiness of its cultivation, Thomas decides to stay and learn the winegrowers trade. Alas, the inheritance had be counted on by his sister Andrea: The vineyards had been leased to her husband Georg Plattner for years and made up a significant part of his business. Georg is slowly becoming Thomas powerful and grim opponent...
